SocialJems Newsletter – November Edition

SocialJems Newsletter – November Edition
The one where LinkedIn stirred the pot (again).
LinkedIn’s Been Busy (Again). Because of course it has.
More features. More paywalls. More ways to either shine... or get seriously scrolled past.
Let’s break down what actually matters, and what’s just noise.

Third-party tools? No algorithm shade here
Worried your scheduler is tanking your reach? You can breathe.
LinkedIn doesn’t care how you post, just that you do! And this little tit bit came from LinkedIn themselves so you KNOW it’s true now.
So if your content’s landing flat, it’s probably not the tool. It’s the post…or the lack of engagement. 🤷🏼♀️ The two do go hand in hand as we KNOW!
Tagging: helpful or annoying?
Tagging the right people can expand your reach.
Tagging randoms for attention?
That’s a one-way ticket to the algorithm bin.
Rule of thumb…tag relevant people, ask first, and let them know when it’s live.
The best results come when they actually engage, not just blink and scroll.
That juicy company page competition ranking feature? Going behind a paywall…

Soon, only those with a £100+ monthly company subscription will get access to the page performance leaderboard.
If you still see it, enjoy it while it lasts. It’s being rolled out quickly.
LinkedIn wants you to help train its AI (and they’ll pay you for it)
Yep, LinkedIn is now paying verified users to contribute to AI training.
Think writing example posts, helping fine-tune tone, and feeding the machine that’ll power future tools on the platform.
It’s not about leading sessions, it’s about shaping what AI learns from.

Newsletter visibility just levelled up
You can now see who’s subscribed from your 1st-degree network in a quick and easy way, which makes follow-up messaging a no-brainer.
And no you should be afraid to send them they subscribed for a reason. Ask if they want to join your email list explain they will get more value there too!
Expand your marketing lists away from LinkedIn. (And if you need a way of tracking this part of your marketing too, then Claire woods is your girl, over at Kennedy woods. Or just send a “hey, saw you’re reading!” message, start dialogue, get to know these potential new clients. Show you care.
And if your 2nd/3rd degree connections are following?
Perfect excuse to connect. Say thanks, ask what info they would love to see in the newsletter.
Get those conversations going!
Boosted posts now available on personal accounts

Boosting lets you pay to get more eyes on your personal content…👀
If you’re using it, make sure the content is actually good. Great for launches, announcements and timely posts, not random “felt cute” moments. But if I am honest I am still not 100% convinced it will work and I am not 100% convinced people won’t just scroll by with “Boosted post” being visible on the post.
HOWEVER…
We will do some more research and testing on this and keep you posted on the results.
LinkedIn’s growth is no joke
They’re now sitting at 1.3 billion users!

And revenue is on the up. More users means more noise. But also more opportunity.
So if you’re STILL lurking in the shadows it’s time to stop and start leveraging LinkedIn.
One last reminder: comments are queen
The CEO said it. Your stats show it. We’re backing it. Stop chasing likes and start starting conversations.
That’s where the real traction lives. And if you don’t have time to do it, you could always speak to us. 🫶🏼
What’s Been Going On at SocialJems
Jem hit the pitch… kind of
She made it to two live matches, one at Wembley (England vs Wales) and one watching Liverpool vs Aston Villa.
Charlie was buzzing. Jem?
She gave it a proper go and decided the spa still wins, but big respect for the energy, the crowd, and the atmosphere.
Turns out football isn’t just for the boys, but also not where you’ll find her every weekend.
Sarah A’s home project is looking amazing
She’s been working seriously hard on transforming her house into something that feels just right, and she’s had her lovely mum by her side helping every step of the way.
It’s been a big effort, but it’s paying off. It’s turning into a real home, full of intention, love and a lot of graft.
We’re so proud of everything she’s achieved (and still showing up like a pro through it all).
Freddie: immune system under siege, inbox under control
He’s still being taken down by school germs like a true parent-of-a-small-human…
But behind the scenes, he’s been A/B testing the life out of our email flows and campaign copy.
Basically doing the stuff most of us forget exists, and making it perform better while he’s at it.
The Women in Recruitment Leadership event was a highlight
Jem attended and got to see the amazing Jo Major speak, someone she’s worked with before and genuinely admires.
Jo is doing important, powerful work in DEI and recruitment, and it was a real full-circle moment to see her owning the room.
Go check her out if you haven’t already.
And the SocialGames sponsors are officially locked in
Massive love to our amazing sponsors:
💎 SoAIsy
💎 i-intro®
💎 Universal AV Services Ltd
Thanks to them, this year’s Christmas party is shaping up to be the biggest and sparkliest yet.

This month brought new platform shifts, algorithm truths, fresh features and a few more paywalls to dodge.
But amongst the chaos, there’s clarity…
Post with purpose.
Tag with care.
Engage like you mean it.
And if you’re not sure what to say, get help before you hit “boost.”
December’s creeping up.
We’ve got more updates, demos, and sparkle coming your way.
See you in your inbox, or in the comments.
