February News: Orcas, Algorithms & Why Social Doesn’t Need to Be So Hard
Hey you, February already.
January felt like a year in itself, didn’t it?
Let’s talk about what’s actually changed on social, what’s happening behind the scenes at SocialJems and SoAisy, and why you really don’t need to be working this hard at social media anymore.
Grab a brew ☕️
What’s changed on social (the useful version)

There’s been a LOT of noise about algorithms lately, so here’s the calm, no-panic breakdown.
Instagram: hashtags are not the main character anymore
Instagram continues to move away from hashtag-heavy posts. Fewer, more relevant hashtags paired with clear, keyword-led captions are outperforming long hashtag lists.
In other words: say what you actually do. Clearly. Out loud. In words.
TikTok: watch time is king
TikTok is rewarding content people actually stay and watch.
Strong hooks matter. Keeping attention matters. Posting for the sake of posting… less so.
Short, relevant and interesting beats long and forgettable every time.
LinkedIn: depth over noise (finally)
LinkedIn has quietly tweaked how content is ranked, and it’s good news if you’re not a fan of shouting into the void.
Here’s what matters more now:
- Time spent on posts
- Thoughtful comments and real conversation
- Content that aligns with what you actually talk about
What matters less:
- Posting constantly
- Quick likes
If LinkedIn has felt a bit unpredictable lately, you’re not imagining it.
Across all platforms, the message is the same:
- Clear beats constant
- Engagement beats volume
- Value beats noise
What’s happening at SoAisy 👀

Behind the scenes, the developers are working HARD on SoAisy Version 3, and it’s shaping up to be a really exciting step forward.
One of the additions we’re especially excited about is the ability to pull in your existing business templates and use them to build your graphics directly in the platform.
Less recreating.
More consistency.
Much less “where did I save that file?”
We’ll share more as soon as it’s ready to roll, but trust us… it’s a good one.
February LinkedIn Live (one for recruiters)
If LinkedIn keeps slipping down your to-do list, this might be worth popping in the diary.
We’re running a LinkedIn Live in February called:
A Smarter Way for Recruitment Agencies to Stay Visible on LinkedIn
📅 Tue 17 Feb | 12:30–1:15
We’ll be talking about how recruitment agencies can stay visible without recruiters posting every day, without burnout and without sounding like everyone else.
No fluff.
No guilt.
No “just post more” nonsense.

A little team update (because we’re real people)
There’s been plenty happening behind the scenes at SocialJems too.
Sarah’s sister-in-law has been over visiting for the last few weeks, which has meant extra family time (and some very wholesome moments squeezed in around work).
Freddie is now officially in charge of the weekly SocialJems email campaigns. If you’d like to be included, let us know. There will be loads of tips shared… and if you’re not happy with the quality, please address all complaints directly to Freddie 😄
And from me…
I kicked off the year in Norway with Charlie, watching orcas and dolphins (still not over that, honestly). The sciatic nerve decided to make a guest appearance again this year, but it didn’t get to ruin the fun.
Pics from Norway to be added here
Some lovely wins 🥳
We welcomed three new clients into the SocialJems community in January, which is a cracking way to start the year.
Seeing businesses choose a calmer, more realistic approach to social media is exactly why we do this.
What’s coming next
Over the next few months, you’ll see:
- Clear platform updates (no scare tactics)
- Practical strategy you can actually use
- Live demos and behind-the-scenes insight
- Honest conversations about what works and what doesn’t
No hype. No pressure. Just support that fits real business life. As always, thanks for being here.
