LinkedIn's New Frontier, Instagram Updates, and The Return of The Social Games!
We’re starting off our latest newsletter with some exciting news!
Guess who's finally on TikTok? (Spoiler: It's Us!) 🎉
We’re starting off our latest newsletter with some exciting news!
We are FINALLY on TikTok, which is a shock considering we offer TikTok Marketing as a service to our clients. We've been so focused on creating content for our lovely clients that we sort of... erm... neglected our own TikTok presence. Oops! 🙈
But that's all about to change! We're diving headfirst into the world of TikTok, and we want you to come along for the ride. Follow us for all your marketing tips and tricks!
Now, the team itself has had their own active accounts for ages. But let's face it, we mainly use those for creating funny or random videos, or for going down a TikTok rabbit hole that can last for hours. (Don't pretend you've never done it too!)
💎Fancy checking out the official SocialJems TikTok? Click here to join in on the fun!
And if you're just nosey and want to see what the team gets up to in their spare time, here are their accounts. But fair warning: please don't take what we do on our personal accounts as helpful TikTok advice. Sometimes we just like to have a laugh!
So, what about you? Are you on TikTok yet?

SOCIAL MEDIA UPDATES
Now that we've shared our exciting TikTok news, let's look at some of the latest social media updates.
Instagram's got a new tune!🎵
You can now add music tracks to your carousel updates, even if they include a video frame!
You've been able to add music to still image carousels for ages, but throwing a track onto carousels with a video? That was a big no-no. Until now, that is! This nifty little update gives you another way to jazz up your I.G. posts with specific image, video, and music combos.
Instagram's been going all out on music features lately, and we reckon they've got their eye on a potential TikTok-free future in the U.S.
TikTok's become a bit of a big deal in the music world. It's practically essential for music promotion these days. Some artists are even changing their song titles to hop on music trends!
But if TikTok gets the boot from the USA, all that music promo will need a new home. And Instagram? Well, they're positioning themselves as the next best thing in the social media world.
(Though we’re hoping TikTok is here to stay.)
It's not just about carousel music. Instagram's been dropping new music features left, right, and centre:
- The "Add Yours Music" sticker: Lets users respond to Stories with a track.
- Music in Notes: For when you need a soundtrack to your thoughts.
- Song lyrics display in Reels: Perfect for all you karaoke lovers out there.
Looks like Instagram's trying to hit all the right notes and offer similar music engagement options as TikTok.
Could Instagram’s new feature revolutionise professional communication?
Instagram is stepping up with a fresh approach to connect. Introducing Instagram Close Friends on Live - a feature that allows users to live stream privately with up to three others from their Close Friends list. This addition enables smaller, more intimate group chats that might just redefine how professionals communicate.
💎 Private Live Streams: Only viewable by your Close Friends list.
💎 Co-hosting: Invite others from your Close Friends to join or co-host the stream, expanding the interaction to their Close Friends too.
💎 Enhanced Connection: Facilitates a more intimate, engaging way to maintain community.
Engage in more meaningful, private conversations without the formalities of larger Zoom meetings. Could this be the start of professionals ditching Zoom for more intimate, efficient chats?
LinkedIn's Sponsored Newsletters! 📢
LinkedIn are expanding their sponsored articles ad option to include sponsored newsletters! 🥁
LinkedIn's rolling this out "gradually," so don't worry if you can't see it just yet.
Think of it like this: You know how sponsored articles work, right? Well, sponsored newsletters function in much the same way. But here's the kicker, they allow companies to boost their newsletters to attract more sign-ups.
Sponsored Articles vs. Sponsored Newsletters: what's the difference? 🤔
💎 Sponsored articles: These are your standalone, long-form content pieces. You know, the ones that make you look all smart and professional.
💎Sponsored newsletter articles: These bad boys are part of recurring, serialised newsletters that LinkedIn members can subscribe to.
Before you get too excited, there are a few things to keep in mind:
Right now, there are some differences in features between sponsored articles and newsletter articles.
Sponsored newsletters will be available in brand awareness and engagement campaigns. You'll find them in the "Content Library" in Campaign Manager.
Only newsletter articles authored by a company and part of an organic Company Page post can be sponsored. So, if you're a lone wolf trying to sponsor your personal newsletter, you're out of luck... for now.
LinkedIn's hinted that they're working on allowing member-authored newsletter articles to be sponsored in the future. So, watch this space!
What do you reckon? Ready to give sponsored newsletters a go?
And just in case you want to know more…
Here are some of the benefits of sponsored newsletters:
This new feature allows brands to amplify their reach and generate leads through sponsored newsletter articles.
Here are some of the benefits:
💎 Sponsored newsletters allow your content to be seen by a wider audience beyond your current followers, potentially reaching new prospects in your target market.
💎 By promoting your newsletter, you can attract more sign-ups, building a valuable list of interested professionals for future marketing efforts.
💎 Regular, high-quality newsletters can establish your brand as an authority in your industry, enhancing your reputation.
💎 With LinkedIn's reported 47% increase in newsletter engagement, this format seems to resonate well with users, potentially leading to higher interaction rates.
💎 LinkedIn's robust targeting options allow you to reach specific professionals based on job titles, industries, company size, etc., ensuring your content reaches the most relevant audience.
💎It provides another channel to maximise the impact of your existing content, getting more value from your content creation efforts.
💎 Consistent presence in users' feeds can improve brand recall and recognition within your industry.
Keep an eye out for this rollout and start planning your sponsored newsletter strategy!

Now for some exciting team updates!
💎 What’s been going on with Jem
First off, Jem's been out there smashing it with clients. She's been meeting up with them left, right, and centre. But it's not just clients she's been rubbing shoulders with. Our networking queen has been turning her LinkedIn connections into real-life meetups. Who says you can't make proper friends online, eh?
Jem's been absolutely bossing the sales calls lately along with creating content for our lovely clients. But it hasn’t been easy. While all this was going on, Jem's been playing nurse to her poorly pooch, Lenny - or as we like to call him, Bat Pig. (Seriously, how cute is that nickname?) Poor Bat Pig gave us all a proper scare, but we're chuffed to bits to report he's on the mend.
We're dead proud of our Jem and can't wait to see what she gets up to next.
💎 Our resident Morgenmuffel
First off, our girl Sarah fell victim to that pesky summer bug that's been making the rounds. It knocked her for six for a couple of weeks! But you can't keep a good Morgenmuffel down. She's back on her feet now and doing what she loves most - creating killer content.
Now, we all know Sarah has been itching for some proper beach weather. It's late June, and the sun's decided to grace us with its presence. About bloody time, right! We are half expecting to see Sarah sprinting towards the waves any day now.
But it's not all work and weather-watching for Sarah. She's been out having a grand old time with her mates. The highlight? A trip to the zoo!
But in true Sarah fashion, she also got thrilled about... wait for it... ducks. Yes, you read that right. Ducks. At a zoo. With exotic animals all around. Oh, Sarah, never change!
💎 What's Sarah (AKA Twinnie) been up to?
Our admin superstar and content scheduling whiz, Sarah, has been cooking up some exciting plans! When she's not keeping SocialJems running like a well-oiled machine, she's been plotting her next big adventure - a master's degree at university!
But hold on to your dog treats! It seems not everyone in the Sarah household is thrilled about this academic pursuit. Her furry sidekicks, Ginger and Peanut, have some strong opinions on the matter. These canine critics apparently believe Sarah's sole purpose in life should be to cater to their every whim and fancy.
